Its name originated from the Squamish chief Khatsahlano. Today, it is known as Kitsilano, or more colloquially, Kits. The area, which borders on two beaches to its north, is known as one of the most vibrant communities in Vancouver. As the home to many artists, the Kits area has a distinctive creative and laid- back edge to it like no other. Home to some of the finest organic markets, premiere restaurants and internationally renowned boutique shopping destinations, many Vancouverites flock to this neighborhood to do their shopping, get a bite to eat or relax near the water. Kits is located close enough to the downtown core to make commuting a breeze, but its central urban location never infringes upon its friendly and unique community vibe.
